My latest interest is to create portable PLC programs that will be installed and run on an external SSD. That includes all main PLC companies and their software. I am also in this field and I have been working with VMWare for many years. By the way, I have WinXP VM with Rockwell RSLogix 5,500, 5000 and Emulates from v10 to v19, as well as S7 and old Rockwell/A-B programs. My suggestion for you is to have nothing better than HP Elitebook Workstation, i7, intel 2.5GHz +, 500GB SSD, USB 3/3.1, or Dell with the same parameters. What can I do before buying another Laptop? (I'm serious!)

Read a related FAQ, especially from post #2 onwards: FAQ: I have a 64bit host, but can't install 64bit guests. You don't have to explicitly enable Hyper-v itself for it to be implicitly enabled. Either VT-x is disabled in the BIOS, or Hyper-v is enabled.
